Community Supported Forestry

Connecting local communities with the source of their wood products

Direct connection with our community

This approach to forest products marketing is a spin off of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). A CSA, is a way to market agricultural products directly to consumers. That system generally sells shares of the planned garden or crops of a growing season to individuals that are not able to grow food for themselves, but want higher quality products and a connection with the source of these goods. As the products are harvested shares are available for the members of the CSA. This is generally how a CSA operates and our CSF approach is similar.

Truly connects you with your forest products

Community Supported Forestry doesn't necessarily involve paying forward for goods, but truly connects consumers with the source of their own forest products. We offer individuals interested in buying Draftwood forest products the opportunity to visit the actual harvesting sites to see the entire sourcing process from the stump to the sawmill and all phases beyond, if they desire. This approach could work well with planning a project and a prescription by an Architect to use Draftwood forest products.

Draftwood, Inc. will arrange connections and dates for any customer to see where their forest products are coming from. Just call and we will make a date to take you to the woods to see this work up close and personally.

Custom products

CSF could include the manufacture of custom made furniture by a craftsman of your choice or from our network - the production of cabinets for your kitchen, floors for your home and even structural lumber for you building. Any forest product we produce may be seen in every stage of the process from the forest to the end user. This is a real connection with the source of your needs from our natural world.
